Our mission is to drive Orphans positive change through the power of goodwill friends and entertainment.
Friends of Goodwill Charity is a major charity based in the Northern Uganda which strives to create orphans a just world free from poverty – and we work 365 days a year to help that vision become a reality.
Since we first set up Holidays Charity for in school orphans in 2010, we’ve been doing three main things…
- We raise hundreds thousand shillings from goodwill friends through work and talk to friends.
- We spend that money in the best possible way to support orphans education and to carry orphans needs assessment to tackle the root causes of poverty.
- We use the power of our brand to raise awareness of the issues that we care most about our orphans.
- We advocacy program orphans to goodwill friends to be child sponsor in school.
Over the years 2010/2011 we’ve inspired a lot of people who don’t normally ‘do’ charity to, well, do charity. The support we’ve had from so many friends has always blown us away – and still does today.
How it all began
FOG Apac North Uganda was launched in may 2010 but the idea came about during internally displaced peoples camp (IDPs) in Apac North Uganda during rebels activities on Christmas Day in 2001 in one family . At that time, a devastating famine was crippling Northern Uganda and something had to be done. That something was the born of Friends of Goodwill Charity (FOG).
The idea was simple – FOG Apac would get a whole bunch of much-loved from Friends of Goodwill to make the public know the power of friends in doing charity work while using the entertainment like to laugh ,play football ,etc while they raised money to help orphans people in desperate need.
As well as doing something about the very real and direct education support and sustainable development in orphans families in Apac, FOG Apac was determined to help tackle the broader needs of poor Orphans and disadvantaged children in Northern Uganda and at their home
FOG Apac works tirelessly to support some of the poorest Orphans and will support most disadvantaged Widows in the Apac and around the Northern Uganda; we strive towards a just world free from poverty and orphan sufferings.
Our aim is to bring about real and lasting change by supporting orphans education and tackling the root causes of poverty and social injustice, rather than simply treating the symptoms. After all these years, the one thing we know is that when you give orphan the chance to live their lives with dignity, they invariably grab it with both hands.
